Youth Group
“I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, O Sovereign Lord; I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone. Since my YOUTH, O God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.” Psalm71:16-17
Welcome to our Youth Group Web Page! My name is Eric
Ockrin and I serve as Trinity Communion Church’s Junior High and Senior High
Youth Group Director. If you are in grade 7-12, then YOU ARE INVITED to join
us on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30PM for growth, fellowship and
fun!!
My vision is to support and grow young adults though weekly whole group
meetings, individual mentoring and contact, gender specific activities,
exciting youth events, mission trips, inter-youth group activities, and
service to the lost, the least, and the lonely in Rochester and beyond.
Teachings are generally guided by three major themes that I believe are important as we cultivate relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church. The themes include:
1) Who am I?
2) Who is our Triune God?
3) What is the Church?
Our music worship consists primarily of contemporary Christin Artists that you might hear on radio stations such as 104.9 FM (K-Love) and 94.1 FM (Family Life Network).
Some of our activities/events have included mission
trips to the Dominican Republic, serving at Open Door Mission in Rochester,
Retreats to the Abbey of the Genesee, Lock-ins, Holiday parties, Rock
Climbing, Paint Ball, Laser Tag, Christmas Caroling, Rochester Amazing race
, etc.
Please reference the youth calendar link below for upcoming activities.
A bit of my history: I grew up just outside of Ticonderoga, New York in the beautiful Adirondack region. I met my amazing and beautiful wife, Sarah, at Houghton College in the Fall of 1996. We were married in August of 1999. Today, we share the joys of family with our two daughters, Grace and Eliana and our two sons, Jacob and Gabriel. Lots of fun!
I received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Houghton College. After studying at Houghton, I completed a graduate degree in School Psychology at Becknell University. I am currently in practice as a Psychologist for the Spencerport School District. I hold a Masters of Divinity from Northeastern Seminary and am ordained as a Deacon at Trinity Communion Church.
