Refugees in Rochester
TCC New Neighbors Program

Have you ever been the “new person” at school or work? Who made you feel welcome? What did they do to help you feel welcome or oriented to your new community? Right here in Rochester there are refugee families in need of relationship to help them navigate language, culture and sometimes the necessities of life. Here at TCC we have been working with School 50 to connect to some of these families. We are looking for people interested in spending some time with a family to help them acclimate to their new home. Some activities could include sharing a meal together, sharing a favorite family venue or store, practicing English with them or perhaps driving them to an appointment or shopping. As that “new person” you would find all these things incredibly helpful as you navigate your new surroundings.
We also take donations of gently used clothing and household goods. There is a need for diapers, paper goods, men’s and women’s hygiene items and cleaning supplies. Monetary donations will be used to help provide these items.
